In 1861, lonely railroad heiress Tempy Bliss, a budding journalist, is elated that Charles Dickens wants her to write an article about gambling for his newspaper. But when casino owner Lucien Hamlin bans Tempy from his gambling palace once he learns of her profession, she begins to suspect a much bigger story is at hand. Lucien's secretive behavior goads Tempy into uncovering the real story. Lucien is a hard-driving businessman whose life is about to be upended by his unexpected inheritance of an earldom. It's a fact he'd rather not have announced, and certainly not in newsprint, until after the sale of his casino. With Tempy's career goals progressing, as well as her dreams of becoming a part of her fiance's family, she refuses to accept defeat even when Ernest sends her a letter from Paris informing her he's fallen in love with a Frenchwoman. Tempy resolves to win him back while simultaneously conducting her research at the sumptuous Hamlin House casino.

While growing up, Sheridan was an avid reader. She turned her hand to putting her own stories on paper, and when she it was time to choose a college she knew she wanted to be a writer.
Despite naming their daughter Sheridan because they thought it would look great on the cover of a book someday, Sheridan’s parents convinced her to pursue a minor in English and a degree in something that would help her earn a living. Sheridan earned a Computer Science degree, but her heart was still with her books and her writing. Every single break between terms she’d plow thorough reading as many books as possible.
Sheridan attended a number of writer’s conferences, and the night she met her husband they spent the evening talking about their love of writing and of books.
When Sheridan’s first child was born she left the computer field to stay home. Her husband’s career meant that he traveled a great deal, so the bulk of the child-rearing fell upon Sheridan’s shoulders. After a while, she craved a creative outlet and returned to her first love…writing and storytelling.
Each night at bedtime she’d make up a story for her sons. The rule was that they had to give her three elements to include in the story, and then she’d weave a tale just for them.
Once she decided to devote her time to writing, her career began to take off. Her first book, Lady Catherine’s Secret won the “Where the Magic Begins” contest for best historical romance and also garnered the attention of her agent.
Now, Sheridan Jeane writes exciting and emotion-packed historical romances set in the Victorian Era that confront issues of trust and conformity.
With the advent of the industrial age, life was changing. Many people tried to hold on to the old ways of life while others embraced the new opportunities open to them.
Join Sheridan as she explores the clash between the old and the new.
